One of the core features of ” Borobudur Paths to Enlightenment” consists in the capacity to access fully interactive 360o panoramas shot in Quicktime Virtual Reality mode allowing the user to explore each part of the temple at his own guise.Within each one of these panoramic views the user can pan to each side or zoom on any detail he wishes. He can also proceed forward and backward as if walking along each gallery.
Over 400 such panoramas constitute the backbone of the interactive program. A total of over 20.000 individual shots had to be taken and then painstakingly to be retouched and seamlessly stitched together.
Explore the temple through some 400 amazing 360 panoramas, zoom on any detail and get in depth information.
Note how equally well lit both sides of each gallery are. This is obviously a situation which never would occur in reality, since the sun always shines from one side, plunging the opposite side in deep shadow. Optimal lighting of both series of panels on the left and right sides was obtained by photographing them during different seasons of the year and then assembling them into one continuos “map”.
